Clothing,
Food, and Housing
Clothing - Several
times each year, we co-ordinate collection of clothing, socks,
shoes, and coats to support the clients of Metrocrest Social
Services.
Food - Our youth
collect food several times during the year to stock the pantries of
Metrocrest Social Services.
Housing - We sponsor
an apartment for a previously homeless family through the Interfaith
Housing Coalition. We clean, set up furniture, provide an initial
stock of food, as well as linens and towels and maintain contact
during the family's transition to self-support.
Children
and Youth
Bea's Kids - We
support Bea's Kids, a program for children in targeted apartment
projects in Farmers Branch and Carrollton. In the
summer, we open our Family Life Center for five weeks of activities
and provide bus transportation to and from the church. We also
collect and distribute school supplies to Bea's Kids in late summer.

Project Transformation
- Project Transformation is a nonprofit, Christian organization that
provides ministry exploration and leadership development
opportunities to college-aged young adults, and community oriented
programs for children and youth living in low-income neighborhoods
of North Texas. We support one or more young adult interns each
summer for Project Transformation. This program connects the energy
of young adults, the strength of church-supported institutions and
the untapped resources of under-served neighborhoods to meet the
needs of children. Children take part in community-oriented summer
and after-school activities. Participating church volunteers provide
reading support. In 2008, Project Transformation served
approximately 850 children and youth in the Dallas area.

Tutoring -
Volunteers provide one-on-one tutoring for at-risk students at
nearby Montgomery Elementary School.
Youth - The youth of
our church are also devoted to sharing the love of Christ through
missions. They actively support many local mission projects. Among
them are:
-
Collecting canned food for
the pantry at Metrocrest Social Services.
-
Gathering clothing and toys
for children at Christmas through the Care4Kids mission with Wesley
Rankin Community Center.
-
Providing food baskets for
elderly residents in the community.
-
Assembling thank-you
"goodie bags" for returning troops.
-
Furnishing a meal for
volunteers at Project Transformation.
Adult
Services
ESL - Volunteers
teach twice-weekly classes in English as a second language for area
residents several times each year using classroom space provided by
CUMC. The program is offered in conjunction with Operation LIFT.
Senior Adult Services
- Volunteers take seniors grocery shopping, as well as provide basic
repairs and other services to help them live more comfortably at
home.
Our volunteers also distribute meals to homebound clients of Senior
Adult Services during holiday periods.
Gift Baskets and Cards
- We supply Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to community
residents in need. Our United Methodist Women coordinate the
donation and distribution of Christmas gift cards for seniors at the
Wesley Rankin Community Center.
Start-Up

financial support and board membership for a start-up church serving
the Hispanic community in the Bachman Lake/Webb Chapel area.
Missions

Appalachia Service
Project (ASP) - A long-standing tradition at our church involves
sending volunteer teams to make repairs on homes in poverty-stricken
areas of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia.
Teams of youth, young
adults, and older adults usually spend a week making repairs to
homes under the auspices of ASP. More
than 85 people are involved in this Christ Church "mission beyond
ourselves" each year. For
more information on ASP visit their website at
www.asphome.org.
South Texas Home Repairs
- Teams of young and older adults make regular home-repair mission
trips to South Texas to help families repair the damage caused by
Hurricanes Rita and Ike.
Amigos Days -
A project of the North Texas Conference, Volunteer teams of adults help with refurbishing projects

Global
Missions
Faith Promise
To
share the love of Christ through Global Missions
Faith Promise began in 2003 with members of the congregation joining
as a committee to support global missions. That first year,
contributions totaled $8,000. In 2008, $40,000 was contributed.
The
meeting ending the 6th year of Faith Promise was held February
21-22, 2009. The speaker was Rev. Wes Magruder, former missionary to
West Cameroon in Africa. Faith Promise commitments for our 7th year
totals just over $34,000.

healthcare, education, and spiritual formation. Some of these
programs include:
